I took in my new SSR wheels to have tires mounted on them.(BFG KD) 245/35/18 on a 18x9 wheel. So I drop everything off and the head tech says no problemo...an hour later I get a calling saying "these are DEFINITELY not the correct sized tires for these wheels". Now I know right off the bat this guy has no clue what he's talking about so I say "...how do you figure" and he says "the tire split and the bead ripped open when we were trying to seat it!" At this point i'm fairly pissed off because there is no reason at all for anything to go wrong. I come into the store and the tire is completely busted open on the sidewall with a tear through the bead. Add insult to injury, the tech scratched the lip on the wheel when he was removing the busted tire..
Anyways I take a closer look at the tire and it turns out that it was made in 01/2004!!!! WOW...I don't know if I should call BFG to complain or what...imagine if this tire had failed while I was on the highway. In the mean time i'm waiting for another set of tires to come in, I refused the other tires and told the sales guy that I will refuse any of the "new" tires coming in that are older than 8 months.
